யோனாவிடம் நாம் கற்றுக்கொள்ளக் கூடாது மூன்று:1. 'நான் மட்டும் நல்லவன்,' 'நான் மட்டும் வாழ வேண்டும்' என்ற தன்மையமும், கடவுளின் நன்மைத்தனம் கண்டு பொறாமைப் படுதலும்
2. கடவுளின் வார்த்தை வெறும் ... என்றும், ... அல்ல என்றும் நினைப்பது.
3. எதிர்மறையான கண்ணோட்டம். எதற்கெடுத்தாலும், 'நான் சாவதே மேல்' என்று சொல்வது
யோனாவிடம் நாம் கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டிய மூன்று:
1. ஆமணக்கு செடிக்காக அழும் குழந்தை உள்ளம்
2. தன்னை அறிதல் - தன்னைச் சுற்றி நடப்பவற்றை அறிதல். ஆகையால்தான் யோனாவில் இந்தப் புயல் தன்னால் வந்தது என்று அறிந்து கொள்ள முடிந்தது.
3. நன்றிநிறை உள்ளம். இது அவருடைய பாடலில் காணக்கிடக்கிறது.
இரக்கத்தின் யூபிலி ஆண்டில்...
1. நம் கடவுள் பழிதீர்க்கும் கடவுள் இல்லை என்பதையும்
2. அவரின் வழிகள் அவரின் வழிகளே. அவற்றை நாம் கேள்வி கேட்க முடியாது என்பதையும்
3. கடவுள் நமக்கு இரண்டாம் வாய்ப்பு கொடுக்கிறார் என்பதையும் கற்றுக்கொள்ளலாமே!

Dear Fr. YESU:
In my parish, the Priests offer Baptisms.
They prepare students and others for Confirmation.
They officiate Marriages.
They bless Funerals...
Noticeably, on all these occasions they make and keep a record of these ecclesial events.
I must admit that these records help check certain vagrant behaviors of migrant Catholic men and women.
And I am glad that the Church acts as an agent of social cohesion and protector of vulnerable populations.
There is however another problem that creeps up with this record keeping.
An unintended consequence of sorts.
I would call it as the emergence of "REGISTER MENTALITY".
A mentality that forces me to think that God works only with those names in the Church Register
- under the safe keeping of the Parish Priest.
Bottling God to be Catholic and parish-bound.
A veritable jail sentence to the Almighty.
Defining His activities to be taking place within my community, my congregation, with all those who have names in the REGISTERS...and control of the RECORDS, never leaving Him to be free.
Now this is not the case.
God does not work that way.
God defies my definitions.
God literally jumps out of my walls.
God and His mercy reaches out of the Parish Registers.
He is the Father of all; not just of the Roman Catholics.
In the 4th Eucharistic Prayer, I pray,
"Therefore, Lord, remember now all for whom we make this sacrifice: especially those who take part in this offering, those gathered here before you,
your entire people, and all who seek you with a sincere heart."
Yes, "Your entire people".
Indeed, "All those who seek you with a sincere heart".
All those, meaning "a hundred and twenty thousand people...and many cattle" [Jonah 4:11]
"People...and Cattle"!
What a slap in my Catholic Conscience!
மனதுக்கு நிறைவான முடிவு. புதிதாக ஒரு மனிதனையோ,புது விஷயத்தையோ காணும்போது அவற்றில் உள்ள நிறை, குறைகளை ஆராய்ந்து எதை எடுக்கலாம்; எதைவிட்டு விடலாம் என்ற முடிவு எடுப்பதே வாழ்க்கையை வெற்றிகரமாக வாழத்தெரிந்தவனின் சாமர்த்தியம்.அதே சாமர்த்தியத்துடன் தந்தை யோனாவின் நிறை,குறைகளைப் பட்டியலிடுகிறார்.அதேவேகத்தில் நாம் கற்ற பாடங்களை இரக்கத்தின் யூபிலி ஆண்டோடு இணைப்பது இந்த ' யோனாவின் நூலுக்கு' நாம் சூட்டும் கிரீடம்.உண்மைதான்..." அவரின் வழிகள் நம் வழிகள் இல்லை என்பதும்,,இரக்கமே உருவான நம் இறைவன் நம் சிறுமையின் நிமித்தம் நம்மைப் பழிதீர்க்காமல் நமக்குஇரண்டாம்,மூன்றாம்....வாய்ப்புகளைப் கொடுக்கிறார் என்பதும் எத்துணை ஆறுதலான விஷயம்!.இனிதே முடிந்த ஒரு நிகழ்வுக்காகத் தந்தைக்கு வாழ்த்துக்கள்!!!
